Editorial Policy
How Calculator4u researches, tests, updates and corrects its calculators and guides, and how advertising is kept separate from content.
Why we have an editorial policy
People use Calculator4u to decide how much to borrow, how much to invest and how much to eat. That puts a duty on us to be accurate, to say where our numbers come from, and to fix mistakes quickly and visibly. This page describes how we do that. It applies to every calculator, guide, FAQ and comparison table on the site.
How calculators are built and tested
- Each calculator implements the formula its product actually uses in India: reducing-balance EMI for loans, compound interest for FDs and recurring deposits, future-value-of-an-annuity for SIPs, the notified slab rates for income tax, WHO categories for BMI, and the Harris-Benedict equation (with Mifflin-St Jeor as an option) for BMR.
- Before a calculator goes live we check its output against at least three independent references - typically a bank's own calculator, a published amortisation schedule and a spreadsheet model.
- The formula and a worked example are shown on the page so anyone can reproduce the result.
- Defaults such as interest rates are indicative and dated. They are refreshed when the RBI changes the repo rate, when a lender publishes a new rate card, or at least once a quarter.
How guides and FAQs are written
Guides are drafted by the Calculator4u editorial team at Ashirwad Infotech and reviewed by Astik Gabani before publication. We write from primary sources - RBI circulars, the Income Tax Department, bank and AMC product pages, and official health guidelines - and we link to them where a claim depends on them. We use software tools to draft outlines and check arithmetic, but every figure and every recommendation is checked by a person before it is published.
Each article shows a publication date and, when it has been materially changed, an updated date. Guides that depend on a financial year (income tax, PPF limits) are reviewed after every Union Budget.
Corrections
If you spot an error - a formula, a rate, a slab, a typo that changes meaning - email support@calculator4u.ai with the page URL. We verify reports within two working days, correct the page, and add a short note at the bottom of the page describing what changed if the correction affects a result.
Advertising and independence
The site is funded by Google AdSense. Advertisers cannot buy a place in a comparison table, a default rate in a calculator, or a recommendation in a guide. We do not run affiliate links to lenders. If that ever changes, we will disclose it on the page where it applies.
